sometimes i remember to blog...

this past week was a whirlwind! we got back from arizona sunday night. monday it was business as usual--back to work (never fun after a vacation!). monday night we went and saw The Sound of Music at Sundance with Mary (josh's mom) and our niece and nephew, Sunny and Jackson. it was my first time seeing a play at Sundance, but they do it every summer. it was really fun to go see, especially to see it with such fun company :)

the rest of the week was spent catching up with sleep and with my tv shows. the weekend was spent catching up with friends, watching movies (good and not so good...), crashing a 1-year-olds birthday party, and going shopping. we found a changing table on sale at target and snatched that up. the nursery is really coming together!

speaking of henry, i started feeling him move around a little bit this week. sooo crazy! everytime i say that i feel him move, josh thinks i'm lying. its kind of funny. here is the look of the week:

yes, i'm basically wearing the same outfit as my 17 week picture. well, the same tank and belt haha. even though no one cares, here is the outfit breakdown: tshirt--forever 21; tank--target; belt--vintage; corduroys--gap.

anyways, this week will be all working, rereading the help (can't wait for the movie!!!), and then having family come up for the weekend. did you guys have a good week?

happy easter

josh took some pictures of me after church today. i'm wearing my "easter dress". this dress started out as my graduating-from-high-school dress, so it's been around for a while. and i still love it, and thankfully i still fit into it!

[dont judge this picture. there werent any really good ones that showed the whole outfit...]
cardigan
: nordstrom. dress: boutique in maine. belt: thrifted. tights: from a friend. shoes: payless.

sometimes we call kitty "bunny" because he sits like a bunny (which we refer to as "bunny pose"). so this morning i brought kitty downstairs and said, "look juji, i have a present for you! its the easter bunny!"

then josh left us so i took a picture of me with the easter bunny. true love ♥

now we're off to have dinner with josh's family. what have you been doing for easter?

playing catch up!

again, i have no idea how people work like 50-60 hours a week and still blog. no idea. anyways, here is me playing catch up!

first, i would like to publicly thank my friend paige. she is such a sweetheart, and sent me this ADORABLE shirt!! [confession: ...i might have worn it 2 days in a row...i'm obsessed!]

please check out her rockin shop here. she also sent me the cutest barette, but i think jay-z might have found it, because i'm not sure where it's gone.. anyways, i can't wait to see her on project runway some day! thank you SO MUCH paige, you're a doll!! ♥

sunday church outfit.
shirt and boots from paige. skirt made by me. tights from F21.

also, this weekend we painted like CRAZY. my hands/arms were hurting! we finished all the paint on the first floor (yay!), and did the accent wall in the bedroom. here is a sneak peek of the bedroom so far:

the flash was on in this, so the wall looks kind of blue. it's purple in real life. you can kind of get the feel of the color in the following picture (taken w/o flash)

by the way, my mom made that gorgeous quilt on our bed. she is freakishly talented. love you mom!

and lastly, i played hairdresser tonight. josh has been growing his hair out since christmas, partly because we were in arizona for a month, and partly because i wanted to see what it would look like. of course he was cute, but it kind of drove him crazy (he's a little ocd...)

before

after. see how much happier he looked after it was cut? haha, he's cute :)

phew! i think i'm mostly caught up now. i did build a vanity last night from ikea, but i won't show that until we have the room reveals! just trying to keep you in suspense... haha

"crazy"

as you know, we just started working at our new jobs. and our new jobs are with a construction company. so let's just say that sometimes i get a few looks with some of my outfits... haha. today i was wearing the get-up pictured below. one of my coworkers stopped me and said, "I love how you dress all crazy... Like a fashion model!"

[nah nah nah diva is a female version of a hustla!]

of course i immediately replied, "that's my goal in life, besides saving the world"
♥

outfit details: everything from the waist up is forever 21. the jeggings are from nordstrom, and the boots are from forever young shoes. and yes, these pictures were [begrudgingly] taken in our lovely hotel room haha. happy wednesday!

purple rain

first of all, let me just say this: i spoke too soon about the curling my hair with a hair straightener thing... i was shown how to do it that night and it looked so easy i was like yayyy--i finally got this! then the next day i tried it myself. umm...yikes. i couldnt make consistent curls. every time the curl came out different looking or non-existant. obviously i need some more practice...

[random, cute jay-z picture to hold your interest]

second, josh thinks it's embarrassing to have reading material in the bathroom. he said it's like a frat boy, except everyone knows it's me because they're girl magazines. honestly, i don't really see the problem. apparently it irks him, and he even said, "i dont know how i've let this go on so long..." too bad josh, i'm not moving them unless i'm switching them out for new material. thats how i roll.

third, it is pouring tonight, and so after i went to the grocery store and whatnot, i decided to change into some cute [dry] clothes. i went shopping today with one of my bffs (hi shannon!) and we hit up nordstrom rack (love!!!). one of the awesome things i bought was..... JEGGINGS! i'm not going to lie, when i first heard of jeggings i was a little confused. i just thought they referred to stretchy skinny jeans, which i've been rockin for years, along with most of you. so i was like *what is the big deal!?* today is honestly the first day i've understood jeggings. i saw them and i knew it was a match made in heaven. i don't care what any of you jeggings-haters think, i fell in love. so tonight i paired them with some purple report boots (also new from nordstrom rack), a gray tank top, and a purple plaid flannel vans shirt. oh, and i was eating a grape blow pop. what can i say, i love the color purple!!

it was hard to hold my foot up so i put it on the tv stand...

and yes, football is on. could you expect anything less from my husband on a saturday?
ps: my hurr isnt short, its just crazy in a messed up bun. dont judge.
pps: josh likes to get his jeans in my pictures. apparently they were jealous of all the attention my jeggings were getting...

and fourth, happy halloween everyone!! i wish we got trick-or-treaters, because i think they're cute, but i guess that's what you get when you live in a college town and close to campus. i hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

outfit of the day...and purple hair!

so you know my 4 simple goals? and one of them was to buy less and make more? i used this super easy tutorial to make an elastic waist skirt. this skirt cost me like 3 or 4 bucks to make, and only took maybe 30 minutes or so (i'm a slow iron-er). i was excited to take it for a spin today at church:

necklace: lia sophia
top: gap
skirt: made by me!
boots: forever young shoes

andddd...yesterday i got purple extensions put in! they are so much fun and i love them. they aren't super noticeable so it's fun when they come peeking out. and they match my nail polish right now haha.

when i was getting them put in everyone in the salon kept coming over to feel my long thick hair. they asked where i worked and when i told them the forest service they were like "what?? you dont look like you work for the forest service... maybe you should have gotten forest green extensions" haha. it was kind of funny. anyways, if you live in utah you should go see allison at capelli. she is awesome! she works at a hair school so she can get more hours [she's a certified stylist in another state but utah requires more hours to work here]. i definitely recommend her though, she is super cute and nice, and obviously really good at hair.

happy weekend!

we love colors

i collaborated with we love colors to provide a little photoshoot for you all to enjoy. all photos taken by sarah. we did this editorial style, so have fun (click pics to enlarge):

as you may know i love bright colors, and i love tights! so it's only natural that team up with we love colors, right? i love all of these tights. i wore the metallic splash ones to church on sunday and got tons of compliments. thank you sarah for taking the pictures. and a big thank you to we love colors for providing such lovely tights (with over 50 colors to choose from with dozens of styles of tights)! go check them out asap, you will love what you see!

outfit of the day, tucano's style

we went to tucano's for dinner tonight for josh's work. i hardly ate all day so i'd be super hungry for dinner, so i could eat as much as possible. and i seriously ate myself silly. i even got dessert!

top: shade
necklace: liv(e) and love
belt: thrifted
jeans: forever 21 [seen here]
wedges: payless

after dinner we hung out with jeff and darci. and little mona pooped on me. it was the weirdest thing because i fed her and then was burping her. after a while she started getting fussy so i went to pass her off to darci and then i noticed there was something yellow-brown on her brand new shoes, and on my shirt and belt. i was like *that's a weird color for spit up...* and then darci informed me it was poop. hahaha. oopsie, mona had a poopsie!! she's so cute though i didn't even care [plus they washed my shirt for me so it was all good]. don't you just love babies? hehe ♥

on my salary?

ok, so you know how i get obsessed with things? and then i wear them all the time? yeah... these flats are my current victim. i wore them with this outfit the other day and you couldn't really see them, so here they are in all their glory:
[my feet are ashy. i need lotion, stat!]
soo... story time. i wore these shoes to work once (it was an office day) and my boss did a double take before looking closely and asking, "are these...cobra?" it took everything in my power not to laugh out loud. i finally said, "unfortunately, these are just plastic. i got them for ten dollars..." it was funny. and slightly uncomfortable [although i'm not sure for who]. later my coworker and i were talking about it and he goes, "really? he thinks you could afford cobra shoes with our salary?" hahaha. true that, yo.

coming at a close second for currently-obsessed-with item are these jeans. they are new, from forever 21 [they're having a denim sale right now]. i needed some skinny jeans, since my absolute favorite pair has a humongous hole in the crotch-ular area. not a good look. RIP, lovely jeans [seen here, here, here, here, and here. i obviously used to wear them a lot]. so anyways, i was really scared to try on forever 21 jeans because i did once a long time ago and my thigh wouldn't fit in the pant leg. an experience like that will scar you, trust me.
in the name of skinny jeans, i tried these bad boys on. and they actually fit. these ones are pretty short (hello, highwaters!) but thats a look i can rock with flats or cover up with boots. i'm kind of tall, so it's hard to find pants that are long enough sometimes... thats beside the point though, because i love them. now excuse me while i adore my $10 cobra shoes...

weekend re-cap, and an outfit post!

i cut my hair [on friday]. only like 2 inches though. so hopefully all those dratted split ends are gone, and it's a nice length. definitely not borderline gross anymore haha. and i dyed it so it's all one nice color again. farewell, roots! so...i took this haircut opportunity to turn in into an outfit post. josh was, of course, thrilled. ok, well he might have been simultaneously shooing me away while watching to catch a predator (addicting!), but he managed to snap a few pics haha.

my traditional "peace" pose of course

clearly NOT paying attention. thanks joshy. but kind of funny haha.

andddd:blurry full-length shot.
top: nordstrom (so mj, right? i am feelin it lately!)
tank: wet seal (for like $2)
heart necklace: lia sophia
jeans: truck
snakey flats: charlotte russe (i never go in there but i did on a whim. i'm glad, too, cuz these were only $10 and i wear them all the time now!)

yesterday i went with my friend to a local antique/plant/crafty shop. i don't know how to explain it, i just like it. i've gone before and scored some nice stuff, that you can see in this post. i ended up buying an old vogue pattern, a lot of vintage lace, vintage buttons, and some awesome hankerchiefs. i have some ideas for these beauties, and i will keep you posted. [they also relate to one of my goals!] unfortunately i had a ten dollar limit (hello, medical bills!) so i was unable to get some other awesome things. like these:

vintage turquoise singer. in working condition. i wanted to cry. i think it was $65? $75?

this set of awesome blue/chrome chairs. $45 each tho...what a rip off. ew...do i look creepy in this picture? oh well...

yesterday we also watched gran torino with some friends. if you haven't seen it, you need to. the end sort of makes me cry, which was embarrassing since there were people over, but oh well.

then tonight we went and had a birthday dinner at josh's parents house. josh turns the big 2-6 this month, and my little niece sunny turns 6. it was a great time. unfortunately...i didn't take out my camera. oops! it was fun though and we had some delish fish and chips! it's so nice having good seafood (i'm from maine, you know...comes with the territory). so thanks for the fun birthday bash, in-laws! we had an awesome time ♥

i hope everyone had a lovely weekend! i have to go to bed now or i will never wake up for work. boo... nighty night!

white blouse: forever 21
blue tshirt: wet seal
silver dress: express
leggings: forever 21
boots: etsy (vintage)
necklace: lia sophia

i guess if you want to know anything about me you should ask my husband first. haha.
happy sunday ♥

lets hear it for the red white and blue!

so the other day i won this awesome giveaway: la tour eiffel dress from shabby apple from the blog seven clown circus. i decided to rock it today at church, with my new navy jacket (i call it my MJ jacket, cuz it reminds me of him).

[sorry about the picture quality, the lighting was bad and i think it wasnt on auto...oops...]

dress: shabby apple
jacket: forever 21
red heels: forever young shoes

so patriotic, right? i actually think it's a bit more nautical than patriotic but whaturr. i still look good hahaha. and all the colors are there. i'm off to have dinner with family (we had a family reunion yesterday and tonight we're going to my aunts house). hopefully i'll have some family pics to put on here soon.

everyone have a fabulous fourth of july!! be safe ♥

cardigan: mossimo (target)
pink shirt: downeast basics
yellow tank: banana republic
cords: aeropostale
flats: soda [i need to get some new shoes...]

[not sure what this is about? click here]

just a couple more days left. if i look cute today i'll do todays outfit. haha. its almost done!! im not gonna lie, its kind of hard to look cute and wear different clothes all the time. im so used to always wearing like a t-shirt, my favorite jeans, and flats.

also, HAPPY NEWS!!! my parents bought a house in arizona!! they are moving in 3 weeks. here is a picture of their new house!

cute, no? on the left that is the 3 car garage. you better believe my dad is excited about that!!! its from 2006, so its pretty nice and new! my mom described it as having "arches in all the right places." (as seen below)

the one problem about the house? see that weird mural-y looking thing to the right of the kitchen? thats wallpaper ha ha ha. its like this huge garden scene. its pretty funny. my mom's like "oh yeah, thats coming down right away!" she said there's one in the master bedroom too that is a window scene looking out on a lake with a fisherman haha. pretty funny :] who knew people could get so 'creative' with wallpaper, eh?

i am so excited/happy for my parents and i cant wait to go visit!!! we are going down for 4th of july and into the next week, and then we are seeing beyonce in pheonix! we're pumped! love you mom and dad!♥
