[click picture for link]
wouldn't this look all cute, like a christmas present? of my face? love it

this looks expensive. and fancy. it might be a little too classy for us, but i might try it out! we shall see...

i think this one might be my favorite, because it's cute and youthful. like us, right? haha

so what do you think? which one is your favorite? click here to see all of them. i love shutterfly, they are awesome and they have so many options it's insane. if we ever have a baby, or if any of my friends have a baby, i will be searching through these birth announcements. making birthday invitations? they've got awesome templates for those too. and of course, holiday cards. other cool things shutterfly can do? photobooks! we did one of these from our wedding and i love it. we got a few of them and gave them to our parents as a present. i mean, what's better than showing off your attractive children with a book you put on your coffee table for bragging rights!? am i right or am i right?!

REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Corioliss hair straightener from misikko

GIVEAWAY CLOSED. THANKS FOR ENTERING!

guess what? i have ANOTHER awesome giveaway for you!! ever heard of misikko? they have professional hair straighteners and the best hair dryers. they carry a variety of brands, including these lovely ones that you may recognize: chi, paul mitchell, hot tools, and of course: corioliss.

misikko generously sent me one of their top sellers: a Corioliss Classic 1” Black Flat Iron to review, and offered to give one away! yippee! when i came back from camping, the hair straightener was waiting for me at home. i was sooooo excited. when i opened it up, it was the loveliest packaging i have ever seen for any kind of hair product. it also included a couple free gifts, as well as a heating pad you can place the straightener on when it's hot (before this i was using a sushi plate to keep mine on...classy i know...). it also included a little booklet explaining the corioliss line, product information, and even a how to guide w/pictures.

so, i wanted to take some before pictures so you can see what my hair does naturally. it gets kiiiind of crazy. if i hadnt put my product in it before it dried [naturally], it would have been worse. so this is what i was dealing with:

awesome, huh? i told you so. ok, so i sprayed my hair with heat protectant first (a must do!) and then went at it. at first i didnt have the heat up high enough for my craz-o hair so i was worried and thought "oh no! i dont like it!" but then i realized my problem and turned the heat up a bit. then it was perfect. the plates are longer than my last straightener so it can handle more hair at a time and get it all straight. it heats up in record time, which was awesome. when i was finished i got this lovely end product:

cute, right? by the way, the adorable shirt i am wearing came from the etsy shop come shop pink lemonade. you should definitely go check her out and snag one for yourself!! now back to the review: i would highly recommend this hair straightener. it also comes with a 2-year guarantee, just in case something goes wrong. 2 years? hollaaa! it works great and as you can see it straightens like a dream.

how do you get one?* well, you can buy one here at misikko (valued at $200, currently on sale for $89!), or you can enter this giveaway! here are the rules:

1. [MANDATORY] Leave a comment telling me how you usually style your hair everyday (1 entry)
2. Follow my blog and leave a comment saying so (1 entry)
3. Follow Misikko on Twitter and leave a comment saying so (1 entry)

5. Join Misikko Newsletter and leave a comment saying so (3 entries)
6. Tweet this: "@yourstrulydear is giving away a @misikko corioliss hair straightener! enter here: http://yourstrulydear.blogspot.com/" (1 entry)

that is a total of 9 possible entries. as always, be shameless (you know i would be). enter away, and good luck! Also, please leave an email address so I can get ahold of you if you win!

*this giveaway is [unfortunately] only open to the US or Canada since this particular iron is not dual voltage. so so sorry!

BESTeam feature: Paradise Purls

I have joined an Etsy group called Boosting Etsy Shops Team. So far it's been great and everyone offers a ton of support. As a member of the team, I get to feature a fellow member every week right here on the blog. So without further ado, here's introducing...Elizabeth from Paradise Purls!!

What's your favorite color?
blue....love, love, love blues. Just ask any of my family members or friends, everything I buy is blue. lol!

What inspires you?
Natural beauty inspires me...sunsets, the ocean, flowers, etc. I see the colors of these things and ideas jump into my head! Regarding knitting, a wonderfully colored or handpainted skein of yarn inspires me. I can picture what my finished product will look like and then I can't wait to get going on the project!

What do you love most about what you do?
Honestly, I started knitting in the beginning as a tool to relax. It works! It makes me slow down and just chill (I'm normally pretty wound up and busy!). As I've evolved in the craft, I take great pleasure in finishing projects and giving them as gifts to my friends and family. Everyone seems to be so happy with the gifts, it makes me feel really good.

Is Etsy part-time, full-time, or hobby for you? How do you balance it with everything else?
Etsy is a part-time business venture for me. I'm a SAHM (stay at home mom) who is reveling in something to call my own. I'm committed to getting my business up and running, and eventually taking it full time. I do most of my work for my shop while the kids are at school so it doesn't conflict with family time.

What are your top favorite blogs or websites?
Favorite web site: www.ravelry.com Favorite blog: www.rantsfrommommyland.com

What are your current projects?
Right now, on my needles, I'm have a cotton baby hat and a cotton washcloth. I'm also working on beaded bookmarks, and felting soap kits. I usually have multiple projects going at once...I like variety! [jess does too!]

How did you get started w/your Etsy shop?
I opened shop on etsy because so many friends and family kept telling me I should sell my knits. A friend mentioned etsy (which at the time I had never heard of), and I was hooked!

Paradise Purls has been generous enough to offer 10% off any purchase if you write "jesssentme" in the notes to seller during checkout!
