"crazy"

as you know, we just started working at our new jobs. and our new jobs are with a construction company. so let's just say that sometimes i get a few looks with some of my outfits... haha. today i was wearing the get-up pictured below. one of my coworkers stopped me and said, "I love how you dress all crazy... Like a fashion model!"

outfit details: everything from the waist up is forever 21. the jeggings are from nordstrom, and the boots are from forever young shoes. and yes, these pictures were [begrudgingly] taken in our lovely hotel room haha. happy wednesday!

we love colors

as you may know i love bright colors, and i love tights! so it's only natural that team up with we love colors, right? i love all of these tights. i wore the metallic splash ones to church on sunday and got tons of compliments. thank you sarah for taking the pictures. and a big thank you to we love colors for providing such lovely tights (with over 50 colors to choose from with dozens of styles of tights)! go check them out asap, you will love what you see!

its been a while since we had a picture of jay-z on the blog!! i snapped this last night when we were playing cards. he was being adorrrrable! it's a shotty pic since it was on my phone but oh well, you can still see him ♥


also, today i'm going to a modeling agency. eeeeeks. as some of you may know, i have wanted to be a model since FOREVER. it just hasnt worked out yet, mostly because all the modeling agencies in utah make you pay them. this one allegedly doesn't charge, so i'm going to check it out! wish me luck. here are some of the pics i'm printing out and bringing:

this is what i looked like tonight after my photo shoot. just wait til you see pictures from it. it was antm inspired, from when they have paint dripping down their faces, like so:

but not as cool, since thats all fa-fessional and whatnot. there were normal fashion photos too, dont worry. i cant wait til theyre posted so i can share them with you!!

also, some were intrigued by my last post and my story of getting stood up. **disclaimer: this story is embarrassing and shows what i loser i was** well, i worked at a retail store in freeport, maine. it was like...2003? 2004? i worked with this boy that i kind of liked. it was valentines day and we both had to work earlier in the day, and so i brought up the question of what he was doing that night. he said "nothing, really..." so i got gutsy and asked if he wanted to go see a movie that night. he said yes, and i was all excited. we exchanged numbers and i said i would call him and let him know the movie times.

after work i went home and looked up times and theaters. i called him and we planned to meet up at the theater, in falmouth. i got there, and called him to see where he was. he said he was lost but would be there soon. i explained how to get to the theater and he said he'd be there in like 10 minutes. 15 or 20 minutes go by...i call him...he says he is still "lost". 10-15 minutes later, i call him again, he still says he is "still lost". i finally get the picture and just head home (pretty sure there were tears...). working with him was kind of awkward after that...

there is my embarassing story. and the gross camera pic of me covered in paint. i really need to shower... my hair is literally hardened with paint!

duh, my name is jess, and my blog name is "the mundane adventures of miss jess," but i have also branded myself as yourstrulydear. the blog name came about because my nephew and niece would call me miss jess (before i was married to josh), but now im aunt jess. they are cute.

i live in provo, utah. im from north yarmouth, maine. i dont know where i would live...san fransisco? australia? somewhere really nice where it doesnt snow too much...

3. Where do you work? whats your job title? Do you love your Job?
i work in the byu herbarium. i am an "herbarium specialist" as well as a TA (teachers assistant). my job is sort of boring, but i like it in the aspect that i work with plants. i also really enjoy being a TA, even though a lot of the time i feel stupid

4. If you could work anywhere or do anything what would it be?
get paid to craft (darci and i have a business in the works, be sure to stay tuned!). or be a hydrologist. or run a recycling program. or get paid to blog. or be a fashion merchandiser. or a model. i have many interests and aspirations...

5. What are you reading right now?
sue grafton's books. i havent had a lot of time to read, so i'm still on "A is for Alibi" (sorry Mok, I'm slow!). whats funny is i actually am a fast reader, but i usually dont have time to really enjoy reading and get into books unless its summer, or vacation or something.

6. What are you listening to?
right now, josh playing uncharted 2. as far as musically? i am currently obsessed with metric, along with many others

7. Guilty pleasure?
blogs. as you saw in my previous post, i am obsessed. i love them. otherwise, candy. its quite a nasty addiction actually... oh, also tv. its true--see #8

9. What is one thing you do everyday?
look in the mirror to make sure i look cute. and then ask josh if i look cute. dont believe me? ask him (go ahead and start singing youre so vain. ive admitted it before. im cool with it)

watch movies, play canasta and spades, eat food, go on adventures with friends, shop, etc

received: getting to see my parents down in arizona, and my new purse♥
gave: a large art piece of the salt lake temple for my parents. they were married there. it was cool because i made it, like the frame and the finishing touches on the picture, etc

ikea lamp, my scriptures, my happy book, my "lotions and potions" as josh calls them, hair ties and bobby pins, etc. its pretty messy actually. josh calls that side of my bed "Narnia," and warns the cat he could get lost in there.

you probly think this post is about you... haha, too bad because it's about my favorite topic: me. just kidding, that isnt my favorite topic, but i admit that i am a vain person. excuse me, openly admit. i want to look nice. people say, "oh, well you're married already so what do you care about looking good?" to which i reply, "umm, iiiiiii care. i want to look good for myself." after years of looking ugly (think ugly duckling, id like to think that is my story), i revel in the fact that i have the ability to look good. and i try to take advantage of it (key word: try).


here is another picture from my shoot the other night. probably my favorite one, even though the motorcycle may seem kind of stupid, i dont care. i think i look good, and thats all that matters ♥

*update/disclaimer: calling myself the story of the ugly duckling is in no way meant to be offensive to my parents or anyone else. both of my parents are attractive, and my sister is really pretty, so i have good genes (no worries!). it was more the fact that i needed glasses, braces, and to learn how to control my cuckoo hair!

there was this girl on americas next top model, cycle...8? i cant remember, there are too many. anyways, every pose she did looked mean. one time the panel said strike a few poses for us, and she did, and for every one the panel said "mean...mean...mean..." a lot of times in pictures i sort of have this affect too, unless i am smiling. its something i need to work on...

so, every year i always want to apply for antm. i have this secret hope that i would just show up and get all the way through and then actually make it to the show and then get tons of modeling jobs. last year i told myself and my friend keiko (a model) that this year i would apply. so i went and looked up the eligibility requirements, and i see this:

8. You must be AT OR UNDER five feet and seven inches (5'7") in height, although Producers reserve the right to make case-by-case exceptions. Please note the change in this requirement from past cycles of the Series.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!????? are you kidding me!?? i am 5'10" or 5'11". perfect model height, weight, sizes, etc. does any of that matter? APPARENTLY NOT!!!!

so me and keiko will wait til the next cycle (14) and if they dont have this stupid rule anymore, we will apply. and we WILL be......

hello. ive wanted to be on your silly show for years. however, i always seem to miss the deadline. such a bummer, when ive got moves and looks like this...

so, tyra, i just wanted to say i hope you appreciate what ive got to offer. no, these pictures aren't done by a professional photographer, and yes those are animal-print game chairs in the background. i have no professional training besides standing in the windows of 'the childrens place' in the mall when i was 10. i just want to throw this out there though.

random funny story...

the other day me and joshua were at albertsons (a grocery store) and i was wearing these tall white stiletto boots. i like to pretend like im a model a lot, its just kind of a bad habit ive gotten into, and while we were walking the frozen foods aisle joshua had me show him "my walk." Singing Naomi Campbell..walk!....Naomi Campbell..walk! i strutted my stuff down the aisle, posed at the end of the 'runway', and walked back. the whole time joshua was instructing me (in a loud, Miss Jay-esque voice): "longer neck! bigger strides! lift that chin girl!! faster, come on!"

then we picked out a pizza for dinner.
